Sonfjällscampen

Sonfjällscampen is beautifully situated on the shores of Lake Vågan with a fantastic view of Sonfjället. If you are looking for peace and quiet mixed with postcard-like views, you have come to the right place.

The campsite consists of 35 pitches for caravans, motorhomes or tents. All 35 camping plots have their own character and unique views in different terrain.

The cabin village consists of 10 small, cozy camping cabins with 4 beds. The cabins have a small kitchen with refrigerator, freezer, microwave, coffee maker and kitchen utensils. All the cabins have a wonderful little terrace with a striking view of both the lake and Sonfjället.

In the two service houses there is access to toilet, shower and kitchen. It is possible to rent a washing machine and sauna via the reception.

The campsite's location is one of the reasons why it has won several awards over the years. Here you have a perfect starting point and close to Hede, Vemdalen, Nyvallen and Sonfjället National Park. The national park is Sweden's first national park.

The area around Sonfjällen is one of Sweden's densest bear areas and the brown bear is considered by many to be the area's character species. In addition to bears, there are moose, lynx, reindeer and several cool bird species.

The mountain's highest peak measures 1278 meters above sea level. There are also several scenic hiking trails close to the campsite. Mountain hiking is an activity that is becoming more popular in Sweden and the question is whether this particular campsite has the most amazing views.

During the summer months you can swim in the lake and there is a jumping tower that you can jump from. You can rent boats, canoes and fishing gear, and if you want to explore the area by bike, you can also rent it for cheap. If you want to barbecue in the evening and collect all the new impressions, you can do so. Both barbecues and campfires are allowed in the area.

If you come here during the winter season, you can go snowmobiling, skiing or fishing and swimming in the ice bath. Skiing is very popular in the entire mountain area and every year thousands of people visit this part of the mountain world on a skiing vacation. The forest walks are incredibly powerful even in winter.

There is no service shop at the campsite, so we recommend that you buy everything you need for your stay before you arrive. The nearest grocery store can be found in Hede or Vemdalen, where there are also restaurants, cafés and liquor stores.

Near the campsite there is everything from amusement parks, indoor swimming pools, restaurants, horseback riding, golf and climbing. The nice couple who run the campsite are more than happy to help with everything from tips on hiking trails to what events are going on nearby when you are here.

Sonfjällscampen is open all year round. During high season, the reception is open from 09:00 - 20:00 every day. The facility is adapted for the disabled. As a guest you have access to WiFi. If you want to bring your dog here, it is also welcome.
